The facts: most of us pay several thousand dollars a year in Coatesville School taxes. Also true, Coatesville graduation rates and post-secondary matriculation rates (the percentage of graduates who attend college) are among the lowest in Chester County. For these reasons our community is suffering from a "crisis in confidence" that is resulting in increasing numbers avoiding the public school system altogether. For what it costs us as a community in tax dollars, that is unacceptable. Therefore, as a Supervisor I would engage school officials in dialogue in an effort to improve results and ensure the proper allocation of the tax dollars we provide. I will ensure that our voice as a community is heard wherever our children go to school, and that we (as a community) have a tangible impact on the schools that impact us as a community to such a large degree. As a community we are entitled to as much, and our future depends on it. I don't claim to be a miracle worker, but I do think as a community we can make a difference.
